Life’s Choices
We cannot change the way we were
Or the things already done
The paths we walked
The way we talked
Or decisions that we made
As time goes by we have the choice
To let some memories fade
No need to carry our mistakes
Or try to make amends
We have the gift within us
To be rid of our dead weight
We have the chance with each new day
When we awake with daylight
To leave those ways and start afresh
To make our inner selves feel worthy
For if we don’t
We take the chance of living in the past
But if we commit to make a change
We’ll leave this all behind
The better things will come to us
And our days will all be finer
So when you wake
Make no mistake
For when you make this choice
Life will improve one thousand fold
And you will find all your joy
Your dreams and hopes will come to life
And your happiness you will find
For when you go to sleep each night
Your heart will feel so much
You’ll open up your own minds eye
And you’ll hold your loved ones dearer
So change the now the future
And the light will soon be clearer
